AT&T announced a $5.75 billion deal to acquire the bulk of Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) mass markets fiber business, aiming to accelerate access to high-speed fiber internet across more than 4 million locations in 11 states. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026.

The acquisition includes approximately 1 million Lumen fiber subscribers, who will transition to AT&T Fiber. Key expansion markets include Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis–St. Paul, and several areas in Florida.

AT&T says the deal will bolster critical broadband infrastructure, create new jobs in metro areas, and help the company reach 60 million fiber locations by 2030—doubling its current footprint.
