Alina’s victory marks a decisive and hard-earned win in Miami politics. Endorsed by President Donald Trump, she brought deep local roots and a proven track record to the race, having long been active in Miami politics and serving alongside leaders such as then–Speaker Marco Rubio, Hialeah Mayor Steve Bovo, and others.
Alina Garcia, the new Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections is the daughter of Cuban exiles, Garcia and her parents fled the communist-controlled island in pursuit of the American dream—a life where they could choose their own destiny.
Experiencing American freedoms and the democratic process firsthand was, as she describes it, transformative - instilling a lifelong commitment to public service and the defense of democratic institutions. She is steadfast in her belief that every voice should be heard, every vote should count, and every citizen should have confidence in the fairness and transparency of the electoral system.
Her opponent, a former Republican turned Democrat, followed a path reminiscent of a certain former governor who made the same switch—only to lose a U.S. Senate seat to Marco Rubio in 2010. The result was a resounding affirmation of Alina’s political skill, ground-level credibility, and the enduring strength of principled leadership in South Florida.
