AT&T announced it is set to surpass 30 million fiber locations by mid-2025, months ahead of schedule, after reaching 29.5 million at the end of Q1. The company added 261,000 fiber subscribers in the quarter — its 21st straight with 200,000+ net additions — bringing its total to 9.6 million.

Consumer fiber revenue hit $2.1 billion (up 19% YoY), and over 40% of AT&T Fiber customers now bundle wireless services, highlighting its push for converged offerings. CEO John Stankey reaffirmed the company’s $22 billion infrastructure investment plan, aimed at expanding fiber and 5G coverage while phasing out copper lines under streamlined FCC processes.

AT&T also reported:

  • 324,000 net postpaid phone additions (beating expectations)

  • Net income of $4.7 billion (up 25% YoY)

  • $3.1 billion in free cash flow

  • A $10 billion share repurchase program, starting with $3 billion in 2025

The company remains the U.S. fiber-to-the-home leader and is reportedly exploring a $5.5B acquisition of Lumen Technologies’ consumer fiber business, although no deal has been confirmed.
